Prof. Dr. George A. Zarb

Dr. Zarb is arguably one of the most respected clinical scholars in the field of Prosthodontics. He recently retired as Professor and Head of Prosthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto following a distinguished forty year academic career.
Dr. Zarb has lectured nationally and internationally, and has written numerous papers on different aspects of his very eclectic discipline. He has co-authored fourteen textbooks, and contributed chapters to several others. He has been a Visiting Professor in numerous Universities around the world, and has organized and edited the published Proceedings from 5 international conferences. His recent research was in the field of Implant Prosthodontics and he has had an ongoing part-time private practice in Prosthodontics in Toronto, since 1966.
He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden; an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Dalhousie University, Canada; an Honorary M.D. from his original alma mater, the University of Malta; an Honorary Doctorate of medicine from the University of Turin, Italy; and an Honorary Doctorate of Science from the University of Montreal. He was the recipient in 1993 of the International Association for Dental Research Award in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry, as well as an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of England.
Dr. Zarb received the Thaddeus Weclew Honorary Fellowship from Academy of General Dentistry in 2001, the Elmer S. Best Award from the Pierre Fauchard Academy in 2005, and the Goldhaber Science Award from Harvard University in 2006. He was recognized twice by the Canadian Dental Association (Honorary Member and Distinguished Service); and he is the only recipient of all 3 awards from the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics - Teaching, Research and Professional Service. In February 2008, he received the Golden Medal from the American Prosthodontic Society. He is Past President of the International College of Prosthodontists, the Academy of Prosthodontics (USA) and the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada.
This past autumn, he delivered Keynote Lectures at the meetings of the International College of Prosthodontics, the Asian Society of Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and the American College of Prosthodontics. The latter organization awarded him their Distinguished Speaker Award at the recent Arizona Meeting just after his being awarded a Fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on the occasion of his 69th birthday in October. Earlier this year he was the recipient of the Award of Merit from the Ontario Association of oral and maxillofacial Surgeons. He was also made an Honorary Member of the Alberta Dental Association at their 2008 Meeting.
He continues to serve the profession as the current Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Prosthodontics. He has just completed his latest book for the Quintessence Publishing Company. "Osseointegration: Ongoing Synergies in Prosthodontics, Surgery and Biomaterials", will be published this fall.

Prof. Dr. George A. Zarb

Dr. Otto Zuhr

Dr. Otto Zuhr studied dentistry at the University of Aachen from 1986 until 1992. After finishing his studies in 1992 he received his DMD from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Aachen and started his work as a dentist in Munich.
Several educational programs led him to Switzerland, Scandinavia and USA during the following two years. In 1994 he started to work at the Institute of Periodontology and Implantology (IPI) with Drs. Bolz and Wachtel. In 1996 he opened his own office focusing on periodontal surgery and aesthetic dentistry in Munich.
In 1999 he founded a new clinic together with Drs. Bolz, Wachtel, and Hürzeler and became an associate member in the Institute of Periodontology and Implantology (IPI) in Munich. Otto Zuhr has written several articles in the field of periodontology and aesthetic dentistry and is lecturing nationally and internationally.
In 2001 he received his Specialist in Periodontology of the German Society of Periodontology (DGP).
